As a 48-year-old who's attended countless concerts, I feel pretty sure that Prince is doing what every other performer does, and that is building up the anticipation. The longer you have to wait, the louder you cheer when he takes the stage. (Up to a point.) It's the bookend to "Always leave them wanting more". | |

To the point of being rude. I've seen P all the way back since the Controversy tour. There wasn't really a delay perse' between The Time's set and P's. Maybe 30 minutes tops. Which felt natural because everyone at that show had just seen Zapp for maybe 30 minutes and then The Time for about 45 minutes. I noticed a much longer delay on the 1999 tour. In L.A., The Time was booted off the show so it was just Vanity6. She was on maybe 30 minutes, tops. It was about 45 minutes before P came on. But at Long Beach, where The Time were permitted to play, it was over an hour before we heard "Don't Worry. I Won't Hurt U". And during the Purple Rain tour,....shit. After Sheila E., P wouldn't come out untill a good hour had passed. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
