What is Prince's biggest hit since TMBGITW?

We always mention songs that could have been a hit but what actually was his biggest hit single since 1994?

Wasn't one of the Emancipation singles a top 10 hit? What about Musicology? Wasn't that a #1 single?

"Eye Hate U" by far in the U.S.

In the U.K., "Gold" peaked the highest at #10 (tied with the "1999" reissue).

You must be joking?

Anyway, those are on the same album as TMBGITW...I'd say either The One, Come On, or Musicology has received the most exposure, not that it amounted to much.

Nope neither happened.

Well, "Betcha By Golly Wow" peaked at #11 in the U.K.

Not in any way that matters. TGE was released over a year after TMBGITW had its run.

Anyway, the answer is still "Eye Hate U." It was a #3 R&B hit (the next highest was "Letitgo" at #10) and a #12 pop hit (the next highest was "Letitgo" at #31).

Prince had a #1 hit with BL&B in Japan last year. That wasn't due to his 'comeback' either - Last December was #1 six years ago. smile

Unfortunately no. What happened was that BL&B was #1 on the Tokyo 100 chart, which is sponsored by the radio station J-WAVE. It was Black Sweat that did very well in Japan.

Ah, I must have misread the info when I read it. What was Black Sweat's highest position? Has anyone a list of Prince's album and single positions in Japan?

BL&B was the b-side to Black Sweat, so surely if Black Sweat did well, technically so did BL&B?

I knew a lot of non-prince fans who knew P Control. Mostly young men who frequented strip clubs.

In the UK chart, Gold spent 2 weeks more in the chart than TMBGITW with 15 weeks - apart from the 1999 re-issue but obviously that's not a new song.
