The only time I've ever seen Prince play the drums was in the "I Wanna Be Your Lover" video. Does he still play the drums, or is he strictly a guitar and piano man?

He's played drums at many of his concerts and there are pictures and videos of him doing so, ever seen any housequake vids?

There's a vid of a live performance of Gonna Be a Beautiful Night (might be from SOTT movie) where P takes over on drums from Shiela E. without missing a beat while she comes center stage and does a rap. There are a couple of close ups of P's funk face while he's slammin' the skins that are just precious.

I also recall something from the Rave Unto the Joy Fantastic DVD where Prince plays a custom set of timbales for a bit of one song. I saw him do that live about 7 years ago on what I think was called the Jam of the Year tour.

Larry Graham opened for him on that show and the sound was so muddy I worried that the concert was gonna suck but when P came out his sound was clear as could be expected given that we were in a rodeo stadioum with terrible acoustics. Whew... that's what big money can buy.

If I am not mistaken, he played the drums a couple of weeks ago at one of the aftershows.

Ok, he also hops up on the kit at the end of the long version of the "America" video for a drum solo.

He plays most of the drums on the albums.

Yes, I was there! He left the room, and came back for the encore and played drums, not a drum solo, but holding the rythm for like 3 songs! It was SO FUNKY! Everybody in the room just had to get up and dance even though most of us were dead tired... it was about 5am! Drum solos I've seen him do on video, but drum solos are just like a "look what I can do" kinda thing, something to look at and be amazed, but not to dance to. this is the first time I've seen him just play drums and make the whole room dance. AWESOME!!! highlight of my weekend without a doubt!

In the America video at the end he plays a drum solo for about 7 minutes.

I wonder if he likes the drums more than the piano, because I know nothing beats his love for the guitar. I've never seen the "America" video.
