Prince has a new guitar tech. Takumi hasnot been around for a while. The fans were discussing this in the line one night in Vegas. A lot of fans miss him. I miss him. Takumi could have had his own fan club.

I remember back in 85' we were discussing Prince's new album "Around The World In A Day" at school, and Takumi told me he was going to move to Minneapolis and work for Prince one day. I looked at him like he was crazy, but he was determined that is what he wanted to do! I was blown away when I saw him 19 years later handing Prince his guitar at he ONA show in L.A. Takumi was cool back in the day and nobody deserves that job more than him

Zeke Clark had the job back in '94.
he had worked with Eddie van Halen and Sammy Hager. Guitar World November 1994 has an article on Prince.

Takumi has been gone for a few years now. Prince is on his second OR third tech just since his run in Vegas started. And the one he's got now prolly won't be around long because he keeps fucking up.
In the show on Friday (2/16) several times he gave P his guitar and bass and they weren't working and brotha man was PISSED but kept it in check. Then I heard that at the Saturday (2/17) concert NONE of P's guitars worked and that the show was REALLY short as a result. On the Sunday show (2/18) I was front and center in front of P's mic stand I was so close that when I rested my arms on the barrier my hands kept hitting all of his guitars. The tech screwed up a few times more but the worst was when they were doing the intro to Purple Rain and P reached for his guitar and it was dead. He handed it back real tight lipped and it took him awhile to get back the emotion that he had built up too but I think it made him put some extra stank on the guitar solo because it was a long one before he even sang the first line. It was glorious but that tech's days are numbered. As I like to say, "He'll be frying fish on Monday."

Takumi was an excellent tech and a real nice person too. I remember one gig on the One Nite Alone Tour, coulda been Manchester, he had to turn the lyric page on the stage, then the mike stand got knocked over so he had jump up on stage to pick it up. As he had a guitar in his hand at the same time and he was kinda stuck so without a moments pause he handed me the guitar to hold while he sorted the mike stand. A cool moment indeed Homer Simpson: "I call the big one Bitey"!!
