OP, i would go for 'If i was your girlfriend', one of the most empathic and thoughtfull lyrics about Love (and lonelieness at the same time) ever written, and one of the few truelly great Prince lyrics.

I once brought Holy River into a class of adult second language learners in Korea and by the end of the class, they were all singing it. I should have videotaped it.

well u know everyone else is gonna have different songs with basically the same ideas as the ones mentioned so i'd say go with something a little bit different besides the importance of trust, honesty, communication or w/e. I'd have to say When Doves Cry or When U Were Mine just to bring up the possible bumps and bruises of relationships
