Parade is one of his best albums ever and Mountains is a terrific song. The 12" inch is great and I remember the time it came out this stuff sounded different than anything else on the charts. One of the things that made Parade stand out was the brass...and the Mountains 12" has some great brass work. I love it. | |

That may be the the best picture of Prince I've ever seen! Personally . I think we are all Boring with No Lives cause all we do is talk about Prince,Criticize and Gossip. As some others here said, the 12-inch version of Mountains is splendid.
When i first heard this version, my jaw almost fall open about all the energy, creativity and swing it contained. Next to the title track from Lovesexy probably the most mindblowing 'listening-experience' Prince ever put unto record. | |

And to react on the Wendy and Lisa thing i think this song (and definitely also the 12-inch version) is first and foremost a BAND effort.
Maybe Wendy and Lisa did write the basic track, but the end result sounds more raw and edgy then anything on a Wendy and Lisa record (my main complaint about them: good musicians, good singer-songwriters, but they sound often to bland and safe on their own records). That last aspect shows Prince recording ethics. Next to that the horn parts are obviously a result of the input off Eric Leeds and Matt Blistan. And dont forget those drums still sound very Bobby Z-ish. To conclude, Wendy and Lisa might have written this song, the final result is a song by Prince AND the Revolution. | |
