Musicology Tour Footage

I dont know about anyone else but i've noticed scattered around the web (no names...don't want universal throwing a hissy fit) that there is professionally filmed footage of a whole concert from the Musicology tour in LA. I don't know how it ended up on the web or why it was filmed...but i do know this. It needs to come out on DVD right now. The last live offering we got was a 50 minute exerpt from the one nite alone tour in Vegas which just didn't cut it for me. Come on Prince, we didn't come to jerk around! You better wake up...and RELEASE IT!

...so yeah just...where did it come from really.

It's from the theatre broadcast of the LA show. Don't hold your breath for it to be officially released, it's definitely in circulation though.

I've seen footage of several other shows and they all had a better energy and performance than the LA broadcast.

I own a copy of this. It is the theatrical release that was available to those in the industry. Great sound and quality film! I won't say where I got it, but it's fantastic... and no, I will not copy - don't ask.

You know, that's why I don't understand why Prince and or Universal won't come up with a better way of getting Prince's videos officially accessible. Those of us that really want the stuff are going to get it anyway! I have that same video and more.

(No, I won't be telling where I got 'em so save your energy and Prince if you want 'em, you've got to personally come to my house and get 'em, I'm not mailing in anything!)

I mean, why force us to go underground? The music industry needs to quit fucking around and figure out a way to coexist with these online communities because they are not going away. All the crying the industry did about Napster and places like Kazaa, please! I've gotten way more stuff as a direct result of the so-called crackdowns than I could have ever dreamed of before them. shrug

On second thought...let 'em keep bitching...Best Buy has a 1TB external hard drive on sale! wink

Yeah, the first concert was shown shown live in various cinemas. It was supposedly going to come out on DVD, but it never did, another project where Prince pulled it for no obvious reason. I have seen a version where at the end they interview various people coming out of the cinema to ask what they thought of the experience, so I really do believe it went very close to being produced.

I think it wasn't released because it really isn't up to his high standards. Don't get me wrong, all Prince concerts are FUNKY one way or another, but when you listen to later concerts, it's clear that this one is far below par. There are a lot of small mistakes, and there are some sound problems too. Pity though.

Though, he had plenty of opportunities to reshoot it throughout the rest of the tour. They usually film it anyway for the video screens.

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Yeah I have this dvd and more too. Everyone is right that Prince needs to release his whole video catalogue. It's not like we won't buy it. As hot as he is now he would sell no problem. He especially needs to release that documentary that was shot during 1989 that we all see floating around. Probably the best behind the scenes footage of Prince at his peak.
