Snap

didn't see 'em mentioned...

"Baby" (instrumental)
also, isn't there a "Soft & Wet" instrumenatl out there too?
and i think there are others from the For You sessions
not that these were written to be instrumentals though

there are also a lot of jam sessions
Studio 80 (six or seven instrumental jams featuring Andre, Dez, & Bobby Z, i believe)

oh yeah, and what about the stuff he and Andre did with Pepe?

there's also the easily missed instrumental of "Loose" from the closing credits of the Interactive CD-ROM -- and does "Race" count on that too?

didn't NPGMC offer a "Superfunkycalifragisexi" instrumental?

and almost forgot "Possessed" (instrumental) -- and isn't there a "Mia Bocca" (instrumental)

I chucked that one, way too messy. But I kept Get Some Solo.

Even though I think it is Levi playing guitar. Dunno why.

I love this song.

Also The Dopamine Rush from Eric Leeds's album Times Squared. Prince composed it and plays on it. I LOVE THAT SONG!!!! Other nice instrumentals from that album are Andorra and Little Rock (that one is gorgeous).

And what about The Max instrumental from The Work? I've been listening to that alot lately.

There's an instrumenental Question of U?

Actually, there are two; one with solo cello (if I am not mistaken) and one with more than one.

But do not get ideas; they are both just around two minutes. I cannot quickly find anything on these versions in Per Nilssen's The Vault book, except that the first version was recorded in 1985/86...

They sound like instrumental scores for scenes from Graffity Bridge, if you ask me. Rather elegant.

Actually you gave me a great idea to make my own Prince instrumental play list.

Awright, y'all. Not counting the live tracks mentioned, like the Machine Girl guitar rock out-outro of Days Of Wild and them others Isten mentioned, this is my first take at the list. I just took apart the albums as much as I could; no East next to West, no One next to Two, etc.

Also, I will look into rehearsel jams later on, like Billy's Sunglasses that has some great instrumental parts I can harvest, like I did with the coda of Rainbow Children.

I included the 77 Loren Park instrumentals, but not the six 1978 instrumentals, or the two 76 Moonsound instrumentals, as their quality is not up to par. That includes the instrumental Toy Box; LOVE it, but the quality is just too severely watered down by too much copying. And the long version of Yes. All great, but not too good in quality.

Thanks for reminding me of stuff like Lust U Always and Kamasutra. Sometimes you just forget stuff.

You will also notice that there is no mention of The Revolution or The NPG; I coded all the stuff that is basically Prince as just Prince in my media player, as it keeps it all managable.
And Madhouse has got an addition to it's band name cuz there are two other bands with the same name and I do not want my www.last.fm to fuck them up. Just so you know, awright?

Hehehe, btw; all the stuff you helped me remember doubled the playlist!

In the end I will probably cut a few songs out, as stuff like Barcelona does not appeal to me very much.
I might also cut a few short, like that dead-ass long 7th Loren park instrumental.

This is a playlist with MOST instrumentals I got. I have LOADS of Prince playlists, as you know. When I did my related artist playlist, I first make a list with ALL of the songs, then weed it down to the best.

I will do the same with this. For instance; Barcelona kinda smells, but I love At Last, The Lost Is Found. In between all them other jewels, weak compositions always stand out.

Added it. But then SHE started to shout.

I forgot. She should prance around in golden hot pants. She should act. But she should not sing. Really.

Now I need to edit again, drats.

The Housequake remix is basically a jazz/funk walk until it throws in a couple of verses for good measure. I love this version and would pray to hear it in concert.

Great, great memories. I think the aftermath in Le Bataclan was probably one of my favest Prince performances. Which is why I think he was so timid during the regular concert.

By the way; I just now remembered Xenophobia. I wish he had released the studio version.

And ooh, ooh, ooh! I wish I had a GOOD version of the original (almost entirely) instrumental version of It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night....

Now that would rock! I love them prolongated jams

It is q shame the studio version is sleeping in his vault.
regarding the Bataclan, it was an absolute killer performance. That night he turned up on stage to murder us !

Hehehe, I lived in Paris at the time and am glad I got to witness THAT performance. I had a friend over from Holland and as soon as Prince lay down on stage I know it would be a memorable night.

I often play that performance; amazing. I love them instances where you can hear yourself in the crowd...

And I think I have to cut the Dopamine Rush Suite; Anna Fantastic is, as you know, partly Dutch. The spoken part she has on this track is just too ridiculous for words. Firstly, she talks about wigs, sauerkraut and being horny and secondly, she sounds like a little trolloppe from the Bijlmer, the outskirts of Amsterdam.

I am sure that when she was 18, Prince met her when she was even younger, a heterosexual man would make allowances for sounding like that, but hell, it ain't cutting it for me.

And to hear the words 'geil' (horny) be uttered in such a way, like a young girl imagines (or imitates from a cheap porn movie) the way sexy women arouse their men; rolleyes

Sorry Anna! Love all the songs you inspired!
