"One Kiss at a Time" from Emancipation. You play that song and it's not even fair. She don't stand a chance. "Satisfied" from 3121 ain't bad either in the old school groove department.

"U're Gonna C Me" from the One Night Alone acoustic album has the most romantic lyric Prince may ever have written: "U're the reason I took a rope and lassoed the Moon. 2 prove that when it comes 2 U, there's nothing I won't do. I'd stare into the sun if U would be mine. It's not so great a leap, since to all others I am blind." You read that to your woman on Valentine's Day and she will cry -- and then rip her clothes off (and then rip your clothes off).

You guys are breaking out the big guns! I love Here on Earth!

What's so funny is that for as much as people dog Prince's work over the last 10 or 15 years - many of these fantastic slow jams are from that time period.

I love the Crystal Ball version of Dark myself.

The Sun, the Moon and Stars is also another one of my secret gems (although I don't care for the reggae part).

Definitely agree with "Somebody"s Somebody". Remember we are talking about songs that are underrated and this one definitely is. When I first heard this song on Emancipation it immediately became one of my favorites but most people sleep on it. As far as "I Hate You", well I don't think its underrated, I think most Prince fans appreciate it. But I don't think its the song you want to be playing over a candle light dinner on Valentines. But definitely go with the extended version rather than The Gold Experience.

Just thought of another: the instrumental love theme from Purple Rain.

Despite thinking of an instrumental, I also thought about how underrated Prince is as a vocalist. Who else has his Smokey Robinson-esque falsetto and can hit those lower register notes in "Diamonds and Pearls?"

lol I actually played this song at my job on Valentine's Day four years ago and everybody kept giving me these pissed off glares, which I found funny because I was working the front desk at a boy's college dorm. So many of the guys would walk up to me and ask me if I was mad because I was playing this song and I would tell them I wasn't. I love how the premise of the song is that even though he hates this girl for doing him wrong; he can't stop loving her. He'd rather hate her than just forget about her and move on. His love for her was soo deep there is no inbetween. Plus, I absolutely adore the Eric Leeds version on the Maxi-single...it's exquisite. biggrin

Great list but I'd take off the mighty International Lover because it (deservingly) gets alot of love here. The One is borderline but definately Man O' War!I think that had decent single potential to it.I justnever got into Silly Game though.

Thanks.
I liked The One as soon as I heard it. I can't get into anything else on NPS.
The slow songs on Rave are great because they showcase the turmoil and heartbreak of his break up with Mayte.

I'm surprised not a single person has mentioned "With You" from the self-titled album. Just a beautiful song and melody. Am I the only person in the world that likes that song?
