Kinda like some of these lines because of his vulnrability. Sometimes he seems so put together and perfect and powerful you forget he is human just like us.

I like his honest lyrics. I kinda like his songs like Anna Stesia because I think most people who become aware of their mortality and how empty they may have been living their lives up untill that point feel a sudden sense of isolation and fearful...I know I did...then you realise that when you have faith in things that matter (whatever that may be to you...for Prince it is obviously his creator) then you don't feel as scared anymore.

Sorry didn't mean for that to be so deep but just thoughts on this song came to mind when I thought of inscurities and vulnrabilities.

Thanks sitruk7! Sometimes alot of people find it so scary to show fear or doubt or anything because I think it is a survival mechanism in our society to appear totally in control and perfect. So I always respected Prince exposing such honest ideas, feelings, ect in songs that anyone could hear and judge. That takes alot of bravery. I used to freek if people read my stories and would be reluctant to show ANYONE for fear of people assuming my vulnrability or I didn't want people exposed to what was going on in my mind for fear of being judged. But Prince really put alot out there in his career...he got ridiculed for alot it by those who were close minded...but he also created a loyal fanbase off of it too...so sometimes taking risks and exposing deep things pays off I guess.

After a few listens, I thought this line in "Little Red Corvette" sounded a little sad to me.

Especially the 2nd set of lines, I want to say "awww" when I hear it... he sounded so insecure about himself and his apparent "inexperience"

I only skimmed this thread, with a quick search for 'girlfriend', but I can't believe no-one has said 'If I Was Your Girlfriend' yet.

I always thought he was singing about himself in the third person on Condition of The Heart:
