Yeah,it is a tough question to answer because Prince has so many "leave 'em and leave them"/"u done me wrong girl" type songs he got out of his system but not all that many "I'm gonna be alright" type songs Most of them that are end up being the "let's find a new girl and fuck my blues away"types.Prince's great cover of Do U'reself A Favor is an acception to that rule though.Sweet Baby is another.

A favorite but a song like that sounds better when you're working it out,it's only sadder when she's gone.

Good one! clapping
That's Prince's way of saying basically,"even though we've un4tunately gone our seperate ways,Eye still love u and will always be there if u need me.".It's perfect after Strange But True which oddly enough fits in this category as well.

Yeah, it's not an angry I-didn't-need-you-anyway kind of song. Much more positive. Goodbye is another one that came to mind, but it's pretty sad.

nod You can tell that Prince and Mayte were the real deal due to the maturity of the seemingly last song Prince put out about her(Wherever U Go...).He could have easily put out "Motley Crew At My Garale Sale Again" as the last track but he didn't.
As for Goodbye,it's bitter sweet. For me,it's like Prince's character gave his all to a relationship but finally excepts that his woman no longer is willing to try to work it out.Not necessarily a mending song but a powerful one still.

It's not a Prince song and not necessarily a heart mender, but Johnny B.Goode gives me a temporary smile when I'm broken-hearted.

From the Databank Transciption Team...

"This is Prince's version of Pepe Willie's catchy soul/pop tune "If You See Me." Prince strips the music down to the bass and drums toward the end and incorporates a scene where he meets his former girlfriend and tries to impress her with his money. He uses his Morris Day-like voice to great effect. Pepe recalls hearing Prince's version around Spring 1982. Jesse Johnson released the song on his 1986 Shockadelica album."
