Why do gay men like Prince?

No,I have never met a gay man who liked Prince for anything other than his music. It's been more my experience that certain otherwise straight men are attracted to Prince sexually.

Edit: spelling

Okay ... I'm really not meaning to offend (I seem to do that on this site for some reason). I'm just truly curious. I went to an org invasion earlier this month, and there was a very high percentage of gay men there. Prince is hot, but he seems to attract more gay men than other artists. Same with Madonna. What's the draw?

Prince is hot... in what way
He seems 2 attract more gay men than other artists... in what way

But anyway...I'm not phisically attracted 2 Prince, never have been (if that's what U meant).
I don't know about the other situation. I just love Prince's music because it's gr8. It's that simple - but this is just me.

Note: eye hate Madonna lol

I'm gay and I love Prince... for his music... the guy has never done anything for me sexually...

Why do gay men love Prince? Because he isn't afraid to break gender boundaries...

I love the way he mixes spirituality and sexuality.

As a gay man, I wasn't ever truly sexually attracted to Prince. Well maybe during his first 2 albums. It really was, and is, the music that I've always loved.

I agree FLORALELEPHANTS comment about gender boundaries. I love Prince's androgyny and I'm sure other gay men do too.

I don't identify as 'gay', but I am a man who likes men. I like Prince for Prince's music. I also think his former FEARLESSNESS in regards to breaking the rules of male gender performance is absolutely fascinating and heroic. All the great rockers have done this and have been loved for it. Little Richard, Elvis, The Beatles, Iggy, Bowie etc... People dream of leaving the constraints the gendered social reality and that is why these performers are so popular and why their performances amount to great art. They mirror mass culture's hidden desire.

I thought this thread was going to be about Prince being gay and then making generalizations of his type of gay males.

I am a gay man who likes Prince on an obsessed level for over 26 years now. I have never been physically attracted to him though. I think he is sexy in some ways, like how he sometimes dances (especially back in the 'days of wild' if you know what I mean) or sings. Gay people have a tendency to be attracted to anyone who is 'out of the box,' culturally or sytematically daring (which also includes flamboyant and fabulous...such gay terms!), and is a survivor despite all the odds. Prince is definitely all of them in one way or the other.

Prince has an incredibly handsome face, and a lot of his appearances through the media (videos, etc.) tend to cover up how short he is. Combine that with his sexy songs and it ain't hard to see why men or women sometimes find him attractive. If I was gay, I would definitely be way into Prince on a sexual level.

My gay friends do not find Prince attractive. They only like his music and his energy when he performs.

Well, my boyfriend said that Prince woos women the way a woman would woo a man. He uses his eyes, lips, and hair in a variety of "come hither" looks. Maybe that's why some straight guys take notice, because they can't resist batting eyelashes, moistened lips, and shiny hair. Let's just say, my boyfriend had to look away a few times while we watched Graffiti Bridge, and it wasn't just because of the bad acting! lol

My guy calls Prince pretty. He'll be like "I just saw pretty's video on t.v" or he'll go "whats that song that pretty did with so and so"

Yep.

He also makes up for it by being arrogant and a control freak, so he can introduce proper masculinity into his behaviour as well.

Prince once described in great detail how he went out of his way to be attractive to both men and women with his make-up and dress, he don't really care who was paying there money and he said it straught up!
