Would you be happy with an album of Rock covers if they were as good as the Foos cover?.

i fricken love that cover, don't get me wrong in priciple I hate cover versions BUT i've been playing The Best of me' constantly. So if the next project is a mostly Rock based covers CD [which my instinct tells me it will be!] would you accept it in the way that Clapton has done with the Blues OR will it be Axes att dawn?.

Prince doing a cover versions album? No thanks!

The first song (assuming that this is from a new CD) is a song called 'Guitar'. As far as I can see, this looks like an original song. Has anybody else done a song called 'Guitar' previously that Prince would deem worthy of covering?

I can't see a cover version album happening where the first song happens to be an original tune when the rest are cover versions.

Prince doesn't need to do a cover versions album and I seriously don't think that it's in his nature considering that he's an obsessive creative.

He's not saying "what if this album is a cover album" He's saying wouldn't it be cool if he did a cover album at some point. Of course it would be dumb to do a cover album now, ppl are just getting back into him. They want to hear Prince.

Only person I could see him covering, at some point, is Jimi...even on B'way...with a whole production (CD-DVD). But not now. Rather hear original.

wow , how bad's my spelling! [tip : don't type when drunk on a good Merlot!]. Anyway i really do think a covers CD with perhaps the odd original maybe the next project. It's ironic that we ,including me,are crying out for him to rock out yet I have 3 ITune files [each holding c12 trax] of his Rock songs in all styles. This excludes the Undertaker CD!. Christ we're demanding!.

i'd love it if he released something as raw and spontaneous sounding as 'the undertaker', which is kinda what the watchtower/foos track reminded me of.

whether it was an album of covers or a mix of covers and originals or just a big messy jam with bits of songs and covers and whatEVER folded into the batter, i don't care. if the next album has that raw sound, i'll be in fam heaven.

I would be thrilled with a rock album period, doesn't necessarily need to be covers. I agree, the Foo's cover got me really excited as well.

Me too, I can't stop playing the HenFoo track. But if he's going to go rock, original(or mostly original) is best. Hopefully he does.

i really think P needs a producer if he is to do a Rock CD, The man knows how to rock as proved with the SB press conference and SB Half time show BUT he needs focus, variety and the confidence to know that a Rock CD would be welcomed with open arms. He will get none of these if surrounded by yes men and women.

The Foo's just released an acoustic live album recently. Prince and Dave getting together for an acoustic set would be really sweet. They oughtta stop out to his 3121 club for a show or something.

hmph! The Foos cover was great but Prince should do his own rock songs... Chaos and Disorder has great rock songs.

Leave off the keyboards and horns, and rock it Prince!

Definetly not, Prince is too talented for that, one or 2 songs might be okay, but NOT a n entire album! shake

I would like to see a split album of rock covers (absolutely loving the Hendrix / Foo Fighters mash up!) and original, as we all know that Prince can rock with the best of them biggrin

You know, when I saw Prince during his last tour, he did a Led Zeplin cover that was AMAZING!

BTW it was a whole lotta love
I don't have time to listen to new music, I've got too much old Prince to discover. Classic example : I was at club Nokia at the midnight show and didn't know "In a large room with no lights" . . . my bad Prince

I was disappointed with the Zeppelin cover on the Vegas-Aladdin DVD...he didn't even finish the song! "Shake for me girl/I wanna be your backdoor man" is my favorite part and I wish he'd sung that

There's a bootleg version of Prince doing Whole Lotta Love that is incredible, and nothing like the version on the Aladdin dvd. I was kinda shocked when I heard the Aladdin version.

I'd LOVE for Prince to do an all rock album! I hope he will consider it after seeing what a big success the SB show was

It'll never be cool for Prince to do a covers album no matter when he does it. I don't mind the odd cover or two sprinkled across his career, but a whole album of them? shake

I would really rather Prince put his energy towards creating fresh, new music. I've always considered Prince a musical pioneer and I want him to keep pushing forward. If he wants to rock, create some new purple rock. Good or bad, I would at least appreciate the attempt to be creative. Leave the covers to everyone else.

Once again, covers should only be done once a while in concert. When it comes to albums, it needs to be original music 100% of the time.
