I got this e-mail on January 31st.

Somebody made a thread about this. No one knows for sure if it's real or not

It better be funky.Please don't sound like Purple rain or guitar.

Seems very strange since March 7th is a Wednesday and things almost always street on Tuesdays, unless this album is strictly indie or download and not on a label.

You mentioned that you knew a new album had been recorded - do you know any more about that?

Ok. but still if he was on a Label than something would be going on by now. My guess is that its going to be something independant. Also "Guitar" doesnt seem tied to a label either, i know Prince likes to sign his 1 album deals last minute but this would be very last minute. I did call a person a used to work with who was a Buyer in the RB market for a music chain and she does write for Vibe now and then and she hasnt heard a word about anything yet. Just to speculate on the "title" possibly this is the Roadhouse Garden recordings that he put on the back burner 8 years ago.

This e-mail was sent 2 NPG members, and it announced the "Guitar" download, the press conference performance, and the new album. I don't think this is fake.

I posted a picture of this very same mail at hq, and also here:

This mail was discussed extensively at housequake:

But given that the announced press release did not happen (yet?), the thread at hq was closed. Although I would be more than happy if, eventually, this rumour turned out to be true.

Further, some more recent tour announcements that were supposed to be done didn't happen as well.
