Beyonce didn't want to sing with Prince at Grammys http://www.usatoday.com/l...ents_x.htm (Last 2 paragraphs)
This article is about the great collaborations that have been done at the Grammys. _____ Ehrlich began orchestrating novel duets as creator/producer of the PBS series Soundstage, a template for MTV's Unplugged. He often asked each episode's two booked guests to perform together at the midpoint, resulting in such mid-'70s couplets as Phil Everly with Dion and Judy Collins with Leonard Cohen. "The turning point was Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea (in 1974), sitting at two pianos playing Someday My Prince Will Come," Ehrlich says. "They had both played with Miles Davis but never together. It was remarkable. I figured I was on to something." In his early Grammy spectaculars, he focused on large ensembles of gospel and blues artists but, in recent years, gravitated to finding chemical combustion between select acts. He's been aided by sturdy relationships forged through years of TV work with musicians. He created the MTV Movie Awards in 1992, hatched the collaborations on VH1's Divas and produced specials for Celine Dion, Eric Clapton, Faith Hill, Aretha Franklin, Shania Twain, Paul Simon, The Eagles and others. He also produced the all-star 9/11 benefit staged two weeks after the terror attacks and the six-hour televised charity event for Katrina relief, as well as last fall's Superdome reopening featuring U2 and Green Day. His glittery résumé doesn't open every door. When he proposed in 2004 that Prince and Beyoncé collaborate on a medley of the Purple One's hits, the young diva "flat-out didn't want to do it," Ehrlich says. "She said, 'Ken, why can't I just do Dangerously in Love?' I sat with her for an hour and a half explaining why she had to do it. "She gave in, and she ended up loving it. It was one of the most amazing openings ever."

It should have been the other way around. Prince should have been the one refusing to perform with a shit hopper and should never have gone through with it. Andy is a four letter word.

I don't believe Beyonce didn't want to sing with Prince. If she didn't I presume it was because she was nervous about perform with an iconic genius like Prince. I wish Prince didn't perform with Beyonce. Her performance was way over the top. I think she's a beautiful girl, but as a music artist/performer I have no intrest in her and think she's ripped of Tina Turner's style of performance.

M I enjoyed it too. It started the big year that was 2004. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Yeah, I think I read where she said she was too nervous about doing it at first. She's always loved Prince, though. I remember her on MTV talking about how she was in awe of him, yet afraid of him at the same time. She has good reason to be afraid--he would've turned her out back in the day. lol
He seems to have some type of liking for her. Must be his paternal instincts... [Edited 2/7/07 22:37pm]

yeah I suppose some clarification could help on this issue, as the statement makes it seem like she didn't think much of performing with prince, yet you'd have to imagine it was more like she just didn't think she was up to it or was too nervous about doing it.
I mean, you'd have to be pretty thick NOT to want to perform with prince really! it all worked out well in the end, I think her performance was a bit OTT but it was a fun performance nonetheless.
