I agree with the fact that we do not know when this song was written and whom it was written 4, Prince has been well known 4 "recycling" older creations from the vault and "re-record them" depending on the flavor du jour...

As far as the lyrics 2 me it seems "she loves me 4 me" means she loves him for whom he is inside, his soul, not the material, or physical thing...

Just my 3 cents baby, add 7 and if we're lucky we might find a dime...

MightBQueen	RE this "lack of passion" some of you are alluding to... have youall ever REALLY been in love? REALLY been happy? it's a nice, calm feeling. passion certainly enters into the picture, but it's not 24/7 being tormented by tempestuous feelings. that makes for a nice songwriting experience but is impossible to live in the long term.
