it's certainly not a pop album imo. the 1992 album, or perhaps diamonds
and pearls, those are (almost) pop albums.

the gold experience is a rock n funk album with very little pop on it..

"The Gold Experience" is the "album that never was", in other words IMHO if it had been released in 1994 instead of "Come" and had been supported by WB and Prince the way it should (including a world tour) it would have been as big a success as "D&P".

From a commercial standpoint it was a missed opportunity.

The Most Beautiful Girl... the version on that cd is horrible..

Could do with some tightening up in places, but yeah, it's a great record.

Pop Album? This is like his most NON-POP album he's ever done.

Perfect? Hardly. It works on many levels. But doesn't at the same time.

It's a spectacular record - Perfect? Not quite. But certainly one of his finest hours.

It's definetly in my top 3, if not the best!

I've drank some diet Coke whilst listening to this album,
& I found the experience so-so.

To all those who said "Gold" is NOT pop: It most certainly is a "pop" album.

"Pop" as in tight, melodic catchy songs glossed over in sparkly gold, For example, "P Control" would never be played on "pop" radio, but it is, in fact, a catchy, sing-along "pop" song.

"Gold" certainly isn't a "rock" or a "funk" album; "Undertaker" and "Black Album" are Prince examples of this.

"Gold" is the 90's equivalent of "Purple Rain;" designed to be a huge commercial success. Unfortunately, "Gold" never got the chance.
