I love the Ultimate Prince Cd. Especially with its inclusion of extended play versions of some of the songs. Nice seeing "Let's Work" on herew as well since it wasn't on the hits collection. But despite all this I'm still disappointed about the withdrawal of "Batdance" once again on these greatest hit packages. That was a great hit and shouldn't be ignored. Also, with all the long play versions on disc 2, what happen to the long lost long play version of "Sexy Dancer". But anyway, except for those 2 things I love it. Peace!

What about the long version of "America" over 20 minutes of sheer funk&pop, extended versions of "mountains" & "Love R Money"

There are loads of others i would want (Housequake, If I Was Your Girlfriend, Paisley Park, How Come U Dont Call Me, Soft & Wet), but I did thinkg the Ultimate was quite cool - mainly for the extended versions and the inclusion of Money Dont Matter 2 Night.

Get rid of Hot Thing who the hell thought that was a good idea. Also why do we need the same lame ass version of Nothing Compares 2 U on there.

The exclusion of Batdance is down to licensing.

Other than that, there are always gonna be omissions on a hits package for someone with a career as long as Prince's.

There are definately some 12" mixes I would've switched though (Cream?... )

I don't know this for a fact but from all I have read and what I have also learned about the way music licencing works etc I suspect the reason the Batman singles are excluded (Batdance in particular) is due to the samples of Jack Nicholson.

Jack negotiated probably the best licencing deal for an actor ever for Batman where he got a share of every bit of merchandise and related products as well as points on the box office take - including the Prince album. I read he earned a total of somewhere near $90m

He would therefore get paid for the track if it appeared on a compilation.
