I started wondering about this last year, when someone posted that Prince didn't even get mentioned in a magazine that picked the all time greatest guitarists....Also, most of the media thought that Prince's halftime performance was great, but here and there I heard a tone that sounded like jealousy to me. I was flipping the radio the day after the Superbowl, and overheard someone questioning whether or not Prince was a legend?

Why do some still not want to give him credit for his talents?

** I think a lot of people just don't get Prince. I'm a huge fan and I don't sometimes. I think it's also hard for some to accept that he can be so flamboyant yet still be a serious musician. After the Superbowl performance, I have heard so many people still say that they didn't realize he could play the guitar so well.

Some of the older artists might be jealous of him. Then again, some of them just may not be into him or his style.

As for this current musical generation, they aren't jealous at all. They don't have the style, taste, or talent to make actual music. As for them being jealous, they have no desire to make real music so they don't have the good sense to be jealous of who actually makes music. They are born into bullshit and they only praise bullshit

Yeah, I totally agree. He's not an easy person to get, but that's okay. He keeps impressing me. All week, I've spent looking over a few music videos of him doing his 80's and 90's stuff. I love his 80's stuff, 1999, Let's go crazy and Little Red Corvette... no matter what the lyrics mean, the songs are either catchy or, in the case of 'little red corvette', I think the lyrics are so well written. It's incredible that at times, he totally cuts loose during a performance, but he's also very serious and dedicated to his art. I could go on to say how much he impresses me. I could write a whole list things I could say, but I'll stop by answering the question posed by the thread.

Yeah, some people are jealous of Prince, I mean, who wouldn't be? He's pushing 50 and still going strong, he knows how to jam on a guitar and he's a brilliant songwriter. I think that pretty much covers it.

Well yes and no. I mean, some may obviously be jealous of his talent, charisma, showmanship, how many fans he has and his looks. He is just devastatingly awesome! And then on the other hand, they arent jealous of him because he is one of the most misunderstood artist out there. They'd rather be popular and understandable then diverse and unique with a touch of ultra feminine (if they are men).
