Prince's "Purple Rain" during the Superbowl was...off tune/misplayed? Alright...don't get me wrong...
I --loved-- the super bowl performance. Really great stuff, especially the covers. Nice job Prince. Way to show the world what REAL music is.. BUT..I have many MANY friends --INSISTING-- that Prince played Purple Rain "Wrong" and that his first note was especially butchered. I've seen the video and even I will have to admit that it does sound odd. I still liked the performance, but even I think something was a touch off. What is everyone's thoughts on this matter? Some of my friends are saying that Aerosmith's superbowl in 2001 was better. (No, they hate JT and all those other idiots just as much as I do, but they insist Aerosmith was superior.) Meh. I'm just bringing this up because I'm curious. I usually don't post much here, I just lurk HEAVILY. =P I come in peace..Promise. ^.~ Falling leaves will appear to them.. Like slow-motion rain..

It was raining. The damp could easily have effected the strings. I wouldn't say it was completely out of tune though, Prince likes to run the sound through distortion filters, so you can get an od sound anyway. And his wireless system seemed to break down halfway through, so there was a lot going on during that performance...

They're jealous! lol
I'm not just saying this because I'm a fan, but who cares?! It was pouring rain, so I'd give anyone props for performing..... [Edited 2/6/07 14:35pm]

yes, it did sound out of tune....and not placing any blame on P, he did an awesome rock job under the circumstances....and dont know if it was due to the rain or the guitar tech...takomi (or however you spell it) left didn't he?
and for once and all, HE WAS NOT IN DANGER OF BEING ELECTROCUTED! Geesh people! It's called WIRELESS, you know this amazing word of internet/intranets, Wi/Fi, etc. we have is good for other things than surfing the net [Edited 2/6/07 15:50pm]
