Seriously, what is there left for Prince to do?

Without meaning to be facetious, what is really left for Prince to do? Can he play to a larger audience than the Superbowl (third-most-watched program in US TV history)? Will he ever top the Purple Rain album? Will any single he puts out be held up as a classic in the same way as in the past?

I'm not saying his time is over - I'm happy for him to keep doing whatever he wants for the next 30 years. But really, he's done so many different styles of music, so many different albums, so many styles of tour (hits, rarities, theater, stadium, small clubs) I'm just thinking everything from here on out is icing on the cake.

The only thing I think he could do (but which he'll never do) to cement his musical legacy is to do a summer tour playing free, open-air concerts in each city - think 100,000 people attending a free Prince concert in every major city in North America, Europe, Asia and Australasia. Get sponsorship to make it work, but make is as accessible as possible so anyone can attend.

As far as his legacy as a whole, I'd love to see him set up a record label that really works (unlike NPG Records) for artists to release their own work how they want (online, direct order, or in stores), and to keep ownership of their masters. Just have a design, production and marketing team. It may fail horribly, but if he gives it a decent shot, it could be wonderful, and start careers of many talented artists.

Of course, he could also give all his wealth to some charity, or campaign for some cause in the way that Bono is for debt relief and the eradication of AIDS and malaria.

So, musically or otherwise, what is there left for Prince to do?

Broadway show/Tony. shrug

(I know he worked on one, but it was shelved, I think?)

I think free concerts would be mayhem...think of how dedicated fans are now even with tix--for a free concert fools would be camping out a week before he got to town, at least.
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

What is there left to prove? Nothing
What is there left to do? Creativity has no limit.

Maybe he'll do something completely different.

I think he should join the reunited Police. He could teach Stewart how to play w/ a Linn drum and help Sting with harmonies and ego duties.

Redefine "done it all"

He's "done it all" as we know it.

He's already proven that 48 does not make you an "over the hill" icon

Blast the perception that you're "old" at 25.
