I believe that this album is his most underrated album, ever.I mean, I think that it's his best work of the 90's and the apex of his collaboration with the NPG, but nowadays seems absolutely forgotten. Why? Because of his lack of popular hit singles like Cream or Thieves in the temple? Because of the apparition of the infamous symbol? Because of that weird history featuring Mrs.Alley between some tracks?
Nevertheless, I think that Love Symbol Album is his last true masterpiece, and it has an unique sound, this wonderful mix of dance, rap, jazz and funk. Sometimes I think that it's his fifht best album, even better than Parade.
Another thing that I don't understand is why "7" has become the "official classic" of this album when I find tracks like My name is Prince, Sexy MF, Love to the 9's or The Continental far superior!

I agree - Symbol is my all time favourite album Money Don't Matter 2nite is so true and Sweet Baby never fails to make me cry. Teh accompanying film/video 3 Chains O Gold is also underated in my opinion but my boyfreind disagrees - he believes Prince was losing his way at this time and laughs at me when I watch the video and cry through sadness and not laughter.
