Has Prince finally understood the need to promote himself

Has Prince finally woken up to the need to promote himself while also keeping the hardcore fans happy?

The hardcore fans (all 100,000 of us) got a new song on Friday to download = "Guitar". Was this way of saying "thanks, I'm still doing my thing"?

The 139,900,000 football fans watching the superbowl got a rip-roaring 15 minutes that showcased Prince's awesome guitar playing, two of his most famous songs and a track from his biggest (by far) selling album and three suprising but very good cover songs.

In other words, for once, I think Prince has pulled a master stroke. It was like saying - "Hey guys remember me?" and everyone (hopefully) replying "Hey that dude Prince, he's actually pretty damn good. You know I didn't realise he could play guitar like that!"

Now let's just hope Prince doesn't fumble/drop the ball but instead capitalises on this and moves very quickly to get a new album/new WORLD tour announced and out there!

'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

hmm That would be a little too much to ask, methinks.

I don't think the tour is going to happen anytime soon, and i'm not sure about an album either.. but ofcourse it would be cool smile

I've seen people being moved to planning a trip to Las Vegas to see P live though, so if anything, at least he accomplished that much smile

After one of these performances it always seems like everyone in the Universe is talking about Prince and how great he is.

It happened after the Grammy performance, it happened after the Hall Of Fame performance, it happened after the American Idol performance, and it is happening again now.

Sadly, in only a week or 2 it will go quiet and for the masses Prince will fade into memory again, as always happens, until he does something new to remind everybody how amazing he is.

There are many obvious things for Prince to do immediately after such performances. Release an album, a single, go on tour. Sadly, Prince obstinately refuses to play the obvious PR game time and again. I suspect he will simply go back to doing his 3121 Vegas shows, releasing a new album and announcing a tour months after all this hooplah has died down.

NO WAY..HE GOES ON TOUR THIS SUMMER AND IT WILL BE THE HOTTEST TICKET IN TOWN!! You can't compare the Superbowl to AI. And most are saying this years halftime show was the best of all time. The performance last night will be talked about every time the Superbowl comes around.

Listen, P has always know how to promote himself when needed but also how to screw things up unneccessarily!. He recently [2004] said that he wanted to be part of the fabric of American culture like Frank Sinatra, doing the SB thing should just about nail it for the mainstream. Lets hope that he doen't screw up 2007, i really would expect a new album and tour announcement soon although he seems to be stuck in Vegas mode!.
