Rolling Stone: Prince or Foo Fighters?

Article on Rollingstone.com asking which version of Best of You do you like better, Prince's Superbowl version or the original...so far it looks like Prince is winning the battle.

I always say that when Prince does a cover he usually owns it. He doesn't always cover great songs on record...but the covers he does r awesome. He has a knack for exploiting what was good about the song 2begin with. I know y'all her Purple house. I love Jimi...I luv 'em...but Prince killed it!. One of Us...I never really like Joan's version...but Prince killed it. La La La...never really liked the original...never really like Prince's...but Prince's is better...A case of U...killed it. He even Kills himself when he covers some old joint of his own that he hasn't touched in a while...like dorothy parker....I think saying Prince is great at arranging and rearranging is how on can sum it up.

that said. I think he only did the end of Watchtower cuz Dave Matthews currently owns the rearrangement of that song and Prince couldn't find summin better to do with it.

I prefer Princes version. Theirs so much emotion when he sang it. The whole superbowl performance gave me goosbumps.

Whatever... Jimi is and WILL FOREVER be the person who can claim any kind of "ownership" over "All along the Watchtower". Dave's is nice, but not better than Jimi's.

yeah, till he fucks it up with the last verse! that totally ruins it for me at that point. it's not supposed to be a 'here, i'll make you hot and it'll be all better' kind of song.

I agree. George Michael owns that song, hands down. His version kick's P's all over the place...shrug I don't like his version of One of Us (actually I just hate that song in general), Betcha By Golly, or La La La Means I Love You. Okay, it could also be that I hate hate hate Emancipation. lol

Haven't heard the Foos' version of this song, but regardless I do like Prince's version.
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.
