God- Love Scene from Purple Rain

Hello orgers. I was listening to a crappy version of God, (Love Scene from Purple Rain) on my ipod and was wondering if this was ever officially released? The version I have is 7 minutes and 59 seconds. Thanks!

Since this is a previously-released B-side, does anyone know where I can buy this?

Just for clarification purposes, the song that I'm talking about is the guitar instrumental that was played during Prince and Appolonia's love scene in Purple Rain.

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

It has previously only been available as the b-side of the 12" of the single Purple Rain in the UK.

It is called God [instrumental], subtitled Love Theme From Purple Rain.

It sounds a bit like Alexa De Paris, but more relaxed and, of course, starts out as a melodic version of the vocal version, but quickly becomes way more.

Lovely track.

Actually, I saw one on ebay that said UK version and then I saw one that was listed as the USA version - both were 12" but there was a major difference in cost. So this is why I asked, but someone let me know here that the UK version is the one I wanted. Thanks orgers for all the info!!!

The US version has vocals and very limited instrumentation. It's just Prince and the keyboards. The UK version is twice as long, has no vocals, but makes up for it by adding drums, bass and some FANTASTIC guitar work.

And I LOVVVVVE guitar! LOL After chatting with Prince at the Vegas aftershow about our mutual love of guitar in Vegas, I've been practicing more and looking for more tracks like this.

lots of information and mis-information here.
Here's the facts...

There is no 'US' or 'UK' versions of 'God', there are only 'US' or 'UK' issues
of the 12" single that it comes from: Purple Rain, which was released back in
September 1984.

There are only 2 versions of the track 'God'...

God (4:02) - also known as God (Vocal).
God (Instrumental) (8:00) - also subtitled 'Love theme from Purple Rain'.

God (4:02) was released as the b-side to Purple Rain in both the US and the UK
(and most other territories as well). However, the UK 12" of Purple Rain ALSO
included God (Instrumental - Love Theme from Purple Rain)(8:00) too.

God (4:02) was also released on CD on 'The Hits/The B-Sides' in 1993.
God (Instrumental) (8:00) has never been officially released on CD.

There was a "God-instrumental" version released in the U.S. But it must have been in very limited release. I remeber that my uncle's friend had it, and we played it over and over. But when me an my uncle tried to buy it, we could only find the version that had the words. If you find the instrumental version in the U.S., it is probably very rare.

We were teenagers and not too rich. (My uncle is only 3 yrs older than me). Plus, the internet did not exist back then. So I doubt that it was an import. lol

I live in the US and back then I was able to purchase the Import of Purple Rain with the "Love Theme" 12" for about the same price as the US 12" at my local record shop.

i remember an uncut version where Jermaine was dancing around a prison and talking about using dynamite -- he had all the guys following behind him ready to break out -- there was also a love song he did that was quite popular at the time
