play what the people want to here and keep it simple, kick off the dancing girls and shelia e's solo bit. Play all of lets go crazy, transisiton into fury, then play most of purple rain closning with the purple rain chant then get off the stage. Thats all you have to do have a good set. But he will not do that he will probably play Johnnie be good, Love Bizzare, and she's always in my hair. Shit nobody but true fans remeber or want to here

Whatever anybody says he is known for not playing what he should at a particular venue. He will play rock and roll at an R&B crowd, and play R&B at a rock and roll crowd

ok, so we all know prince is great at sabotaging himself. He's bragged about the record he was "born to make" and then handed out emancipation. he's released hit records followed by no support in either interview form or tours. let's not forget changing his name to the symbol and writing "slave" on his face. the list goes on and on.

so, how will prince screw up this big opportunity? 140 million viewers plus 70,000 people in attendance...how's he gonna blow it? or will he?

Any guesses as to why sallysassalot is deciding to take what should be a great event and put a negative spin on it?

That is pretty much the only thing this makes me wonder. So, who peed in your cornflakes Sally?

I just hope he doesn't do Let's Go Crazy again, with the guitar break shoe-horned in really awkwardly.

He could ruin things by :

- appearing half-naked on a platform held by a dozen beefy shirtless hunks, singing "If I Was Your Girlfriend".
- throwing his symbol guitar in the air a little too far and accidentally impaling Manning.
- ending the show with a salvo of one hundred fake cannons that shoot Watchtowers into the audience.
- breaking his hip during a split while performing a spirited homage to JB.
- accidentally hitting one of the twin's skimpy outfits with his guitar, causing a full-body wardrobe malfunction.
- being hit in the crotch by one of the marching band's trombonists.
- playing LetsgocrazybabyImastarpurplerainkiss, with nothing new or a bit rarer.

yes, now and again. not everytime you're on tv. lol

really though, that's not what i meant. of course he's gonna do a few old songs and a new song. its the way he has to play it to keep older folks interested and newer folks curious. when i ask, "how is p gonna f it up," i mean is larry gonna take center stage or is prince gonna lecture about worshipping football players instead of God? lol is he going to say something insulting about some other performer which will turn people off, or will he play and walk off the stage without saying anything, thus managing to make himself look arrogant...again.

or is he gonna get up, say a few words to the crowd, play a great set with no assinine stunts, and prove me wrong? i'm totally hoping for the latter. smile

oh relax, guys. am i not allowed to wonder...due to past examples...if prince will mess this up? geez. there's a lot of folks who, under the disguise of the word "fam," worship prince. he's not God, y'all. we can question him. lol

for the record, i'll be watching. just like with american idol (which i did not criticize him for, by the way), i'll be smiling and singing, taking (yet another) break from my homework.

and my kashi was just fine...no pee, just rice milk. wink

If you're anywhere close to the stadium, could you jump into a car and drive away? All that bad vibe would surely cause the man to split his pants or bring Larry for a rendition of The Christ. wink

Who's to judge the measure of his success in relation to the oportunity?

Does ANYONE know what he REALLY wants to achieve here?

I haven't a clue - maybe he just wants to do his own thing and doesn't really care what anybody thinks about it, and that's cool - but from a FAN'S point of view, I just want him to do something that'll get him really accepted as the genius he is/was again.

Maybe he doesn't give a toss about it, but if I'm supporting a football team, I want my team to do well - it's the same with the artists I love.

I think he should really consider the audience of a Superbowl... He'd be wise to keep it rock oriented with some Foo, Stones, or James Brown covers, and maybe throw in a seldom played hit like When Doves Cry or U Got The Look... NO BALLADS PLEASE!

playing lets go cazy/purple rain will bore the hardcores and garner sympathy from the devil. Non-fans see this as a stars grasping for the past, assuming he's done NOTHING worthwhile since 84. So if he thinks he's getting NEW fans...

I agree, nobody doing a halftime performance should do a ballad. I don't care if it is Prince and espeicially not Purple Rain. It's a fucking downer.

Anyone else concerned about the rain? It's coming down pretty good. Will he be able to dance around without slipping? Will his makeup run down his face? Will he even play in rain?

I agree with both of y'all but Purple Rain would work because of the guitar solo.

I really wouldn't count on him "dancing around" rain or not. He hasn't done a lot of that in years.

Prince has played in the rain many times, i saw video footage of him on the Act 2 tour in 1993 and alot of the shows were raining. Second of all, there is no way he could cancel so dont even think it or dream it. Dont expect dancing because he doesnt dance anymore anyway, expect something familar, remember he is playing to a "sports" crowd, they only know about 2-3 songs by Prince so dont expect much.

Yes.

June 2nd or 3rd 1990... I'm told by experts. When he was out inventing the purpleaxe portable keyboard, let's hope he was also inventing the purplekagool, because it's pouring down at the Superbowl as I type...

Alright, I'll try to have a positive outlook about Prince performing tonight. I just hope he's able to be at his best even though the conditions won't be ideal.
