THe songs just don't lend themselves well to a smaller album.
Some of these songs ramble on way past the point you'd think they should've stopped, but seem to blend well into the mix of the entire album.

Emancipation was designed to be at least 2 CDs in my opinion.

I've never participated in one of these before.
