The back of the guitar is cut out and is housing a wireless unit. I"ve see it uo close (back in the day) and there are some pics out there showing it.
Yes there was wireless tech. back in the 80's!!!

Prince had his wireless system built into the back of his guitar during this time period!!! The transmitter was hard wired into the internal electronics. If you look at more photos from those days, you will see a big black cover over the back of the guitar (bigger than the usual electronic panel). How could anyone think that Prince faked his guitar playing. Get real. Oh, and yes, there were wireless systems back then!!!
