PrintableHis keyboard solo in 2 Nigs United 4 West Compton is one of my favourites of all time.
As for his piano work, I rate it the same as his drumming - maybe not technically amazing, but he's worked out a really nice style that just, well, works! The only aspect of his musicianship I don't like much is his recent guitar work. His early stuff is much more rhythm-based and very funky, whereas his playing in the mid 80s was a very distinctly "Prince" sound (like Alexa de Paris). Now, however, he just sounds like a poor man's Santana - and I really don't like Santana! And leave the whammy bar alone, already! (I'm a pianist, by the way) | |
