I went ahead and listened. I'm a jazz singer myself, and let me tell you, I am TIRED of guys who just try to emmulate Frank, but this guy has a very pretty voice. I'm diggin' it. It makes sense that someone would do a jazz version of Kiss at some point, because the song is built on blues. I would have done it a little bluesier, and grittier myself, but his version is not bad. when are people gonna learn not to cover Prince songs? Especially the well-known ones. The fact that it debuted on NPR says it all. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp. | |
