Hey either you dig the song or you don't. However, the fact remains that the vast majority of people lack the requisite talent and/or musical knowledge to tell Prince what he needs to do musically. You are giving advice based on your own particular musical tastes, which is completely subjective. Why does Prince need a producer? To sound like everyone else? To top the charts? To create the kind of music that you want to hear from him? Stop trying to restrict him to your expectations. Let him be free to be an artist and create what HE wants to create. Like I said, either you dig it or you don't. Why don't you just stick to what you like or dislike about "Guitar?" Finally, stating that Timbaland has changed the landscape of music is a bit of an overstatement. He has definitely had an impact on pop music, but IMHO it has not been a positive one. He don't need a producer, he needs musicians that challenge him in a good way like Wendy and Lisa and Sonny and Tommy. These kids he has in his band now are so ga-ga over working with Prince they wouldn't dare challlenge his ideas. Prince needs to bring some uniqueness back to his band so they can bring something to the table and tell Prince when his ideas need a bit of reshaping. It's like he's grown into this "I can do it myself still" diva, when some of his greatest songs started with an idea and were tinkered with by him and other musicians. As Billy would say, "Where's Wendy and Lisa at? Well hey, ok,that'... that's cool." I wish u heaven | |
