The Song... very european fun.

I really like it - has a fun, breezy style.

I don't know what some of you were expecting, but I get the feeling that some people were holding onto unreasonably sky-high expectations.

I was hoping for a good song, and I got one - It's a fun track with way better lyrics than the majority of songs on the last album. The only thing troubling for me is the fact that I've liked both SST and Guitar more than anything on Musicology or 3121.

Ok, after having a couple days to listen over the song and with a fresh state of mind (instead of F5 a page for an hour waiting for a download) I believe 100% that this song is utter garbage. At first I thought I liked it, but I just couldn't believe a song titled "guitar" would suck. Not that I cared if it was rocking, cause I didn't. But to have a title of "guitar" you better bring something, no you better bring all you have.

I could see Prince writing "guitar," laying down the tracks and recording in about an hour. I could see my ten-year-old brother doing the same if he had a multimillion dollar studio.

It's seriously lazy music. Prince is lazy. His music is so uninspiring. I hate his new stuff. I still consider myself a fan because of his first five albums, however.

and whenever an artist/songwriter comes up with a pop song
the response is usually, "it should do well in Europe"
which is usually followed by talk of touring Europe first

Perhaps Prince should release a diary of writing each song. Maybe if he stubbed his toe in the studio and had an ingrown toenail, it would prove sufficent hardship to make the song good, and if he ate nothing but gumdrops while being blown by the twins, the song sucks.

Quirky is exactly what it is.

Even though it is a pop tune, it does not remind me of anything on 3121 or Musicology. Kinda experimental with the left right vocal shifts.

Felt fresh to me more inspired.
