The sound was clean, and I can give you a preview of what you will hear on Super Bowl Sunday. "Let's Go Crazy" is on the play list. And, of course, the big finale will be Prince's signature song "Purple Rain". But, wait, it gets even better. As the final song builds, the stadium will shoot off fireworks. Purple fireworks, that will look like they are "raining" down over the sides of the stadium bowl (get it?)! If prince seriously does this, he will have truly sunk to a Vegas style hits jukebox a la fat Elvis. I may bail from the Purple Bus for the first time... [Edited 2/4/07 1:35am]

February 2, 2007 As the teams run through their final practices before the Super Bowl, others involved with the game are practicing too. Last night at Dolphin Stadium in Miami, it was time to practice the half-time show. The program features Prince, who apparently is a guy who does not like to leave anything to chance. Prince played to an empty stadium, and because there were no people in the seats to absorb the sound -- the music spilled over the top of the bowl to the assembled press, security guards, and maintenance workers in the parking lot. Purple fireworks, that will look like they are "raining" down over the sides of the stadium bowl (get it?). For Prince fans, it wil be a great show. Then, there are guys like me who are not really all that taken with the "formerly-named-after-an-unpronouncable-symbol" singer. But, even for me, it sounded pretty good. My guess is that the half-time show will be a great success this year (assuming no "wardrobe malfunctions" take place). Just don't forget to make the switch after the game to Channel 13. We'll be working hard to cover it well, and (again assuming no "wardrobe malfunction") my money is on Dave Calabro to do the best post-game job in town. The rest of us here will be busting our tails to help. See you on Super Bowl Sunday! we knew this was to be expected, but still oh well, that's only 2 songs. perhaps he'll throw something new and daring into the middle segment. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

American Football does not have a set format. It can take ages to get through 15 minutes of play. Each team has a number of time out's that they can use throughout the game which could make 15 mins of play last up to 45 mins. They play in 4 Qtrs. Only 30 mins play but as I said before that can take an age! Christ. Thank God for picture-in-picture so I don't have to sit through all that nonsense! I'm looking forward to watching it whatever he plays, it's a big show.

check out Dave Barry's very funny column today...
http://www.miami.com/mld/...618352.htm it includes this: "Aside from the commercials, the highlight of the Super Bowl broadcast package is expected to be the Pepsi Or Coke ''They Taste Essentially the Same'' Halftime Show, headlined by a name that has long been virtually synonymous with pro football: Prince. Prince held a press conference Thursday at the Miami Beach Convention Center; he told the press that, while he admired the potency of the Indianapolis offense, he expected the Bears to neutralize the Colts' deep-strike air attack by dropping seven men into coverage. Ha! I am of course joking. Prince -- who is, physically, smaller than the average NFL player's protective cup -- did not talk about football, or anything else. Instead, he brought his band and his hot women dancers, and they did some songs for the media, expressing the theme: ``I may be tiny and sexually ambiguous, but you will notice that these hot women dancers are writhing against ME, as opposed to YOU, loser media person.'' The big question on everybody's mind, of course, is: What is the danger that we, as a nation, will be exposed to Prince's nipple? I regret to report that, judging by the press conference, the danger is very real. Prince wore an unbuttoned shirt, and when he writhed around, there was definite visible nipplage. However, because he is Prince, we are talking about extremely small nipples. However, if you have purchased a doctor-recommended cancer-preventing large-diagonal TV, even Prince's nipple will appear in your family room to be the size of a dinner plate. What I'm saying is: Be ready". Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"
They've taken a lifetime lease on Paisley Park ...

I would just like to point out to the European orgers that the Superbowl will be broadcasted on ARD, the German public TV station which I think is free-to-air on satellite TV....
The Superbowl is broadcasted on a local subscription-based sports channel here in Iceland, but I couldn't be bothered to buy a subscription just for the half-time show, so I'll watch it on ARD, which luckily is part of the channels available on my digital TV subscription The broadcast on ARD starts at 22:40 GMT [Edited 2/4/07 12:27pm]

He should stick with the now, and do Black Sweat, maybe 3121 or soemthing else from the new album, and then throw in one old one like Alphabet St or Partyman or something (songs most people might know but haven't heard to freakin' death on every TV performance and appearance for 20 years). Umm... I just got done watching Billy sing the anthem. Now, I love me some Billy Joel, but that wasn't exactly the best I've heard from him. Not to mention, it sounded like they used a vocoder on his voice. It sounded a little computerized and strange. Oh well. Play ball. Wanna hear me sing? www.ChampagneHoneybee.com
