The King is dead..Long live the King James Brown is dead.
Should Prince now be handed his crown. Is Prince the new Godfather of Soul and Grandmaster of Funk? I say yes he is and Prince is now King. Not really anyone else out there 2 take over as King after King James passed away and the throne is vacant y'all. R.I.P JB Long Live King Rogers Nelson? Wake up children, dance the dance electric... there isn't much time.... who farted? ...was it u?

Nobody will ever replace James Brown and what he did for music. Just because he is dead, that doesn't mean that someone will or should step in to replace him. That's like having your favorite grandpa die and then meeting a cool old guy at the mall and deciding that he is "the new grandpa." He may be cool, but he'll never replace the original. Prince and JB both have their place in musical history. Peace!

No he is The Prince of Rock & Roll
Honestly, I am soooo tired of guys like James Brown & Little Richard. All these old guys that really didnt even release new albums and maybe had 3 known songs in 60 years in the business. (more Little richard on that last thing) James was amazing.. but he really didnt do a new song past the early 1970's. I think he last new/known song was the one from Rocky 4. Shouldnt you do new material if you want to be a King or known past you moment??? "first fame" The Beach boys are another. They havent done a new song or album in 30 years and if they do are they released?? does anyone care?? I think their last known song was that "Aruba" from the 1980's. But that was the first song in 20 years. Now it has been what 35 years and they had 1 new song from the 1960's.

I don't think James can be replaced either...but if theer was one living legend that P was in awe of it was James.
What we have here is a royal family of music and for years James and aretha were considered the king & Queen regardless of how much material they were releasing.. MJ is King of Pop I say we start giving P a title he deserves 2.. Wake up children, dance the dance electric... there isn't much time.... who farted? ...was it u?

No! He's fine where he is. There will only be one Godfather of Soul.(R.I.P.). Besides I quote the song "My Name Is Prince": My name is Prince/ I don't wanna be King/ Because I've seen the job/ And it's just a dream. Peace and be wild!

And he was charting up until 1992-93 when gansta rap/grundge took over. PRINCE: Always and Forever

And even if someone did, (Prince is great, one my my 3 favorite artist ever), there are tons of guys in line before Prince, guys who started back in the 1960's. Solomon Burke, Isaac Hayes, Al Green, Gene Chandler, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson all come before Prince. PRINCE: Always and Forever
