so my wife and i r @ a party 4 her work 2 weeks ago, all the husbands r sitting in the family room watching the nfl playoffs. during a commercial break the halftime show commercial comes on and 1 guy goes,"u have 2 b shittin me, why the fuck did some1 thing booking prince 4 the halftime gig was a good idea." i turned 2 him and said " watch ure fucking mouth" he said ure kidding right, has he done anything since purple rain? 2 which i responded, "do me a favor, watch the halftime sho uninterupted and call me the next day and let me no what u think." then without hessitation i turned 2 my wife and said, "DARLING SHALL WE LEAVE NOW"

oh i have this problem almost every day..u know my classmates r watching me during the breaks listening 2 my MP3 and ask me oh what r u listening 2?and i tell them prince.and the reply oh who's that again?and then some1 tells oh i know him he is a stupid gay man who had done a plastic surgery in his lips and he has only 1 song black sweat u know he is a young 1 he is 20 years old!Hell and then they all yelling at me oh y do u like him,we mean he is gay and nobody listens 2 him....and i tell 'em firstly he is not gay and if he was i wouldn't care,secondly he has billion fans on this planet,thirdly i like him cuz he is differnt from the others and believe me he worths more than that fuckin' Timberlake u listen all the time...and then they tell me oh yeah...he's a gay and u know it and then i tell 'em r u sure....maybe timberlake is gay and i have no problem with gay peeps!hell they drive me nuts!

My family (husband and daughters) have no musical taste whatsoever or are still learning. I am constantly debating whether Prince is gay with them...They just don't get his music (left brainers). When they found out he was the halftime entertainment my husband said I hope he doesn't have a wardrobe malfunction to show off his sex change...I almost smacked him!!! After he saw the daggers he's been trying to get tickets to 3121 for me I can't wait to see the show, but I'll probably watch it in my bedroom jammimg by myself as usual...One day maybe I'll convert them but the halftime show will rock with or without them...

Not quite as ignorant. It's what I usually get from people in general,
"I know he's talented but I can't get into him". I don't get people that don't get him. He's written so many undeniably perfect songs.

There are so many stupid, and ignorant people out there. I still hear a lot of nasty comments about P, and I can't believe it. I don't talk about him with anyone unless I'm sure they can recognize a talented musician when they see/hear one. The ignorance just hurt too much

Some people are just ignorant. I save myself the fight and ignore the comments, then go to my car pop in a Prince cd and jam really loud alone!! They are missing out and that's ok. We have a nice little secret.

Good for you. Think I would have had to leave too. People have tunnel vision when it comes to Prince. Stuck back in 1984 and will not even give him the least bit of a chance. I don't think the Super Bowl will change anything. These narrow-minded people will see and hear what they want, no matter what he does. In the end it doesn't matter, he's made my life a lot brighter over the years so it's their loss, not mine or yours

Good grief. I can't believe people would actually get into an argument and leave a party over something like this.

If I took umbrage every time someone said something negative about Prince, I wouldn't have any friends -- and I probably wouldn't have a job, either. I told someone at work I was going to Vegas -- again -- and my boss's boss said they were preparing an intervention for me. Did I get angry? No -- I laughed along with everyone else.

1) Not everyone is going to like the same things you do. 2) Criticizing things you don't like or understand is human nature. These are facts of life.
