Tupac and Prince samples Not sure if this has been brought up, but I just heard a Tupac song called "Pac's Life" which uses the music of Pop Life. It's pretty cool. I know Pac has used some other prince samples before. Just thought I would share.

Was it made before or after Pac's death? Personally I only listen to the music before with the exception of the Resurrection CD with works by other rappers like Eminem and 50.

Tupac was a huge Prince fan, and talked about him often. The original version(and better of the two) of Pac's Life did have the Pop Life sample.. but when it was officially released it did not (due to sample clearances or just Afeni screwing it up).
To Live and Die in LA sampled Do Me Baby. The orignal of Thugz Get Lonely Too sampled If I Was Your Girlfriend, I do believe. A few other rappers have sampled Prince as well.. Ras Kass (my fav) used Ballad of Dorothy Parker as a beat before. I know Scarface used one once too..

And Darling Nikki - the backwards speach at the end on "Heartz of men" (All Eyez on Me) but that was produced by DJ Quik, alot of the other tunes were produced by other ppl, so unless Tupac co produced - he wouldnt have had much to do with the music

A few years back while listening to an LA radio station, I heard a Tupac track that sampled "If I Was Your Girlfriend". I thought it was dope at the time but never heard it or of it again. I don't know if it was an actual or bootleg track. Anyone know of it?

so unless Tupac co produced - he wouldnt have had much to do with the music I know most artists don't necessarily produce their tracks but I'm sure Tupac knew it was another Prince song and would ultimately say yea or nay to any track his rhymes were gonna be put over. I always got the feeling he was VERY involved with how the music sounded.
