How important is the Superbowl performance? I feel as if Prince's legacy is mostly already set. Since 2004 it seems as if much the general public has jumped on the "Prince is a genius,etc" bandwagon and that he is final getting his due from the masses.
That being said- The Superbowl may be the biggest audience that has ever watched Prince on TV at one time. I feel as if Prince has the opportunity to leave millions of casual (or non) fans with a lasting impression of what he is all about. So I ask you-How important is the Superbowl performance in terms of Prince's career and legacy? BTW- I realize we are mostly superfans around here, but I think it is just fine if Prince comes out with all guns blazing and plays his big hits for this thing. I mean, I think it'd be an error to bust out "Joy in Repetion" or "sister" at half time. I am hoping for a new arrangement on the classics and maybe a cover of Sex Machine in tribute to James, but leave the obscure stuff for the real fans and the aftershows. That being said- A performance of "Head" whislst masturbating the guitar on the flag would be awesome in it's own way. It'd never happen, but it'd be awesome. It's about as important as having the netiquette not to misuse the BOLD font.

It's very important to me that Prince is a part of this particularly historic Superbowl. It's also important to me that this will be the largest single audience of his career. It's also important to me that he has himself a great time out there. We should start a thread to give Prince his pre-game pep talk just like the coaches do before the big game. You know, do a cyber huddle around him and give him some words of support and encouragement. "Awright Prince, this is the big one and we're with ya all the way... we know you will set the place on fire... We want you to go out there and win one for the orgers!"
