Lyric From The Song 'Miss You' A Possible Influence On Prince? I was wondering if a certain line from one of Prince's lyrics from his song, 'It's gonna be lonely' could have been influence by the song 'Miss you' by The Rolling Stones. Here are the lines in question for both songs:
'Miss you'- 'Well i've been haunted in my sleep, you've been starring in my dreams' 'It's gonna be lonely'- 'I bet you never knew that in my dreams, you are the star' Now The Stones album that included 'Miss you' came out in '78 and the self-titled 'Prince' album came out the following year, so that could add to the probability of the connection between the 2 songs. And to me, Jagger's lyric just sounds like a classic Prince line that could just as easily have come from one of his own songs dealing with the subject of him 'being crazy over a girl'. Plus the fact that Prince also covered this song during many of his after-shows back in the early part of his music carrear. Do anyone of you think that there might be a distinct connection between these 2 songs? Or do you think that one has absolutely nothing to do with the other? I'm curious.

Yeah. It occured to me that even besides the similiar lyrics, that the entire song vibe of 'Miss You' could have been a Prince jam.
