Why do people accuse Prince of stealing their music? Andre Cymone, Morris Day, his sister Lorna and even Dez D. among others have accused Prince of stealing their music, buy why don't you ever hear anything else good from them? If they are so great and their great music was stolen by Prince, why don't we ever hear anything else from all of these people who say they gave Prince such great music?

Stealing is such an ugly word. Let's just say that Prince is not very good at giving credit where credit is due. | |

Anyone ever seen that scene from the 1984 film 'AMADEUS' when Wolfgang goes 2 the Austrian Court 4 the 1st time...the Court composer Salieri composed and plays a cute little marching tune on the piano in both Wolfgang's honour and in a bid 2 impress the young visiting fellow musician...basically Wolfie, hears it, re-plays it, re-works it...tears it up and brings the tune 2 a new level...really pisses off saleri who later indirectly kills Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart...
I think Prince gets inspired by other Artists and takes their Idea to the next level.. Actually thats all I wanted 2 say & I have no idea why I wrote an essay on the film Amadeus  Wake up children, dance the dance electric... there isn't much time.... who farted?  ...was it u?  | |

Helping with Ideas to songs at Practice isnt a song.
If they had all these amazing songs, where are they now? where are they after they left? Prince has maybe 5,000 songs. All these people helped with 4 songs.. 25 years ago. | |

When you play music around people you will 'borrow' or use some ideas. Call it inspire if you will. I do believe Prince expanded on peoples ideas. Which if he added alot to the idea it is not stealing in one respect. Though people should have been given credit. I don't know if that was Prince in all cases as much as it was Warner Brothers wanting to promote P as the ulimate music prodigy.

Where is anything else great they've ever done? most likely he stole riffs and ideas from them, (like how kiss was written), because Prince's talent is spastically scavenging the music in his head AND the music around him and creating sometimes ingenious concise potent hodgepodged creations.
