Prince and Andre Cymone?

Why did they part ways? I know they worked together alot on Prince's early music. Why do you think Andre never really had his own success? I know he was a good producer for jody watley.

Andre was successful in his own right. He has nothing to be ashamed of-I think that he and Prince were both strong talents. There just could not be to stars and Andre did well in other ventures-just my opinion wink

I was just wondering because I've never heard of Prince mentioning Andre's name. I often wonder if Andre has been a Ghost Writer for Prince over the years? I think this is a possibility that most fans have over looked.

Has Andre ever been scene in the public over the past 20 years?

May be a possibility, but I doubt it. There's a recent pic of Andre in the last couple of years in the gallery(he's still fine too!) Not that you care about that lol

I alwayz thought that Andre wanted 2 b a bigger star than Prince. And as we all know, there's only 1 star on any stage that Prince is on! I think he was jealous of Prince.

I used to like that song by Andre called " Surviving in the 80's". I recently bought the Album the song was on but it sounded different that the version they played on the radio back in 1982 or so. Does anybody have any info? Is it different? The one on the album sounded like shit.

I've had the pleasure in actually recording with Andre back in 95 and we had kept in touch with each other pretty much up until 01. So, during that time, I can safely say I knew him fairly well, being that we talked quite a bit. That said, Andre was more than a childhood friend of Prince's. He and his family took Prince in when Prince really didn't have anywhere else to stay. Andre was doing the same thing as Prince was, musically. They basically had a pact which was, whoever got over first, the other one would help him out. Prince then turned around and started lifting Andre's ideas, songs, etc and not giving credit to Andre. Andre felt that it was better if he just left and struck out on his own.
