When Doves Cry - the drum pattern was unlike anything heard on tape before; no bass whatsoever; the classical synth solo; the strange but beautiful background and harmony vocals (sounding like a Dove). the music knows what your motives are when you are making it

It is a boot song. It has some freaky screaming goin on in it and prince is singing about ghosts or spirits who live amongst us, hence the title "there's others here with us"..it is kind of a spooky song. Stand Up! Everybody, this is your life!
