Anyone else surprised there's no new album or even a new single to go with the super bowl appearance? People will be buying prince stuff the next few weeks, you would have thought he'd give them something new to buy.

I actually think it is more surprising when Prince does something logical and obvious as regards marketing his product! He constantly misses opportunities to cash in, whether it is having a single out with no video for months after, not playing the current single on TV shows, not putting his album up for download, not touring his latest album when it first comes out, etc etc.

At the end of the day, the most surprising thing is the lack of much new material from Prince in the last few years, with all those recordings in the vault you would think he would put out something in the interim if only for hardcore fans, but of course, without the npgmc that has become very difficult.

I know it's often more surprising when he does what makes sense.

As for putting music out without the NPGMC, that was never needed in the first place. the iTunes music store is what Prince should be releasing vault material through. It's never been easier to make vault material available to fans.
