Linn Drumkit Does anyone know if other recording artist's were using the linn drumkit around the time prince started using it.
I do know that it is used a fair bit these days by Prince wannabe's but i don't recall ever hearing anyone else using it during the 80's!! Could someone enlighten me please?

Oh, most certainly, it was a very popular piece of equipment.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w..._Linn_LM-1 Thanks for that!! I am surprised though, i didn't really pick up the linn sound in alot of the artists music mentioned. I guess it was more more prominent in Prince's sound. Would you think that Prince mastered the linn better than anyone else??

Prince was the first to detune the drum sounds and make them sound different. To me if you listen to 'Something in the Water.....' It was start of industrial music IMHO
Beautiful Ones as well with the detuned rim and snare. Most of the drums on 1999 were the Linn but the each song sounded different as far as the drums are concerned. I actually have one and the swing on it is so nice. I sample it alot.

Um...no. Check Throbbing Gristle, Musique Kocrete, Stockhausen. Prince had nothing to do with it.
