I'm curious about the man & I think his music is a reflection of who he is and where he's been...I'd like to get inside his head and understand what makes him tick! I actually don't even know if he has a "sister". BUT that's 1 serious song!

Yeah. Not so much. It sounds fine, but it's so "plain vanilla" to me. Fender should have destroyed the tooling for the Strat' when Hendrix went boots-up.

LOL. my first guitar (and only at the moment) is a strat. got my eyes on something a bit heavier though. i like a variation of musical styles so the strat works for some, but not for others.

meow is right. HE sounded like a cat who couldn't decide whether he was constipated or in need of life support. Sorry guys but he's capable of singing better than that and writing melodies better than that.

Paisley Park uses Protools, altough one of the smaller studio rooms had something else installed (most likely Cubase or Digital Performer). Prince doesn't necessarily operate the recording program much himself, there's an engineer to perform those duties. Basically he approaches hard disk recording much like he used to approach recording in the tape days. When he records elsewhere he has to use what they are mainly using in the studios, I doubt that he would do the most pain-staking editing chores himself though.

Prince would have no use for a program like Reason, he doesn't work that way.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

**** I really thank u 4 the explanation.
I dont use these programs either, my engineer does it 4 me. I assist him with the editing, mixing, mastering work.
EDITING is a VERY HARD WORK. Maybe Im a maniac but I like 2 control which way my songs r taking....

Is Protools 4 Window, Unix or Mac?

Im not an enginer but I've seen that Reason is used 4 midi files. Doesnt Prince use midi files? I will ask informations about it.

Protools is for Macintosh . There is a lighter version for PC, but I doubt Prince would use it. There are no professional recording programs for Unix at the moment.

Reason isn't really a recording program, it's a bunch of software synthesizer/drum machine module / sample players integrated together. An old concept that sells a lot to the amateur end of music production because of its straightforwardness. But it really is no use for recording of real instruments, vocals and so on. Prince probably has it too if I remember correctly, but I doubt he would use it. He seems to have a lot of stuff he doesn't really employ.

I'm not sure what you are exactly referring to with "midi files" (.MID files are these days of limited use, but I think you are just referring to the use of MIDI in general which of course is as typical practise as ever) - all sequencer programs of today are capable of handling sequential midi data and it is the standard communication language between different pieces of electronic musical gear and computers. Reason can handle it too, but Reason is more of a budget solution. Prince can afford all the features that are available in Reason as separate professional quality units.
