Chaos and Disorder is the closest he's come to metal... Does Chaos and Disorder remind anyone of any specific bands?

i read that,i was suprised.
he was aware of metal music,80s were dominated by pop metal,hair metal and heavy metal bands.
he adopted some heavy metal antics such as devil sign after he solos*(check mtv peach 1994)

I'd like to see him do some Iron Maiden or Metallica.

People never think of it as such but as Dave Hill pointed out in Poplife, the apocolyptic vision that Prince often wrote of was right in line with Heavy Metal's main theme. I really don't think it's a question really, he's done metal just like he's done everything else, our little man is a wonder when it comes to assimilating sounds and creating a synthesis of his own.

I would love to hear Prince record a metal song/album!
Nothing I've heard by Prince really resembles what I think of as metal but I'm new to Prince.
Pantera, Machine Head and Slayer are some of my favourite bands and I don't see much connection.
It would be exciting to hear metal done with Prince's style!

I thought "Sister" from the Lovesexy shows had sort of a speed metal edge. Love it when he rocks hard.

He used to go to shows of the likes of Fishbone, Primus... that sort of thing. Some say he covered Cannibal Corpse during a NPGMC sound-check once, but I still find it highly doubtful. Yes, and in the early 90s he wanted to work with Trent Reznor (of Nine Inch Nails), but blew up the collaboration himself.

I'm sure he listened to a fair share of metal. It comes out of him every now and then. Didn't he use to play Steve Vai's Tender Surrender in it's entirety? I know Steve Vai is not exactly metal but still.

He can't headbang, his wig would fall off--you would see his grey cornrolls. haha.
