What Prince-thing do you miss from Prince? I was listening to old Prince as I often do. There are so many things Prince used to that I miss. I know an artist has to grow and move on. However I miss certain things Prince used to do that no artist has/had the guts to do. Here are the things I miss.
1) Camille - Man IMO every single Camille song was tight. Something about him doing that really came across well to me. The sped up voice is missed. 2) Spoken word NOT RAPPING songs (see Bob George, movie star, all the Critics love you new york) 3) the extended versions - These are what really got me into Prince. I miss them greatly 4) the Strange Drum Programming - The Detuned snares and Rim shots were pure love! (Though Black Sweat kinda touched on it) what do you guys miss? | |

the uncut/extended 12" versions are probably what i miss more than anything. there was a time when i was almost more excited about prince's single releases than i was about his album releases! those extended versions...mountains, kiss, america, let's go crazy...just took the songs into some other dimension, and it was always like going on a discovery mission to hear them the first few times. i LOVED that feeling. | |

i think he can still nit and grit. he can do another set like 'the undertaker' and still sound all kinds of nasty without having to drop a single f-bomb. some of the ONA soundcheck jams proved that. he just needs to get over this whole glitz'n'glamour vegas phase, and maybe he'll let his music go a little wild again. | |

LOL! That's right on the money and perfect! I miss the 12" inches.. I couldn't belive he didn't choose to put out a 12" for Black Sweat. That was his best song in years and seem like it was totally dying for the 12" treatment. I also miss the experimentation and wildness in Prince's music. | |

I miss art-design by Prince & Laura LiPuma.
I miss the old vinyl album sleeves. I miss record labels; I loved the Paisley Park labels. I miss wanting the name Prince on a t-shirt in the lettering of the current album. |

A lot of his older stuff sounded like he'd just dragged his self out into the sun after a weekend-long bender at a dirty little downtown club. Nowadays he sounds almost antiseptic. Guy needs to give himself a musical mudbath. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!" | |
