'For You' would be great, simple songs, simple arrangements.

Anything like 1999 or SOTT would just be far too disappointing.

I kinda see what you mean. The first 2 albums would be a treat!

I like your answer as my answer lol

Seriously, that is tough.SOTT,1999 and Purple Rain are my all time favorite albums by Prince but over the last decade or so, most of those classics have been played live in various concerts. This isn't taking anything away from the treat of hearing them but I'm leaning towards the more neglected ones.

Part of me wants to say Emancipation because as good as it is over all,the plastic sound brings it down a bit.Hearing it live not only means, what? 36 songs, but without a doubt, nearly every cut would sound considerably better with "real" instruments. The awkwardness of how "datedly personal"(Mayte, the baby, ect) so to speak that many of the songs are also hits a sour note.

Oddly enough, the Black Album and 1979's Prince are tied for my top spot.Prince(the album)is arguably Prince's most underrated album.I Wanna Be Your Lover, Sexy Dancer and Bambi have always been cool to hear whenever Prince adds them to his set list. Why U Wanna Treat Me So Bad? NEEDS to return at some point and I pray I hear a live version of It's Gonna Be Lonely at least once in my life time.

As for the Black Album,I'm a huge fan of Le Grind! That's one song that I simply cannot listen to only once.Cindy C and Rockhard... haven't been played ever to my knowledge and I seem to be one of the few who really likes When 2 R in Love.As for the rest, even though Prince (or myself for that matter) is in a different place now, hearing that funk that hasn't been touched in concert since 1989 would be a dream come true.

Sorry for the long answer. Now you see why I don't answer most of my own questions? If only Prince had officially released Camille...lol

leaving out the hits/b-sides (that would just be greedy)....

i may have to go with my third favorite, 1999, mainly because i've heard most of PR and SOTT live already.

when i think of the few seconds of the only time i've seen him perform lady cab driver, as well as the subsequent, shortened automatic (6/7/86)... well, that was two of the most amazing minutes of performance i've ever seen. then there's let's pretend we're married, free, D.M.S.R., international lover, as well as the hits, one of which, delirious, i've only seen him perform a couple times (once in person! 10/2/88).

incidentally, i saw a performance in brooklyn in december 1999 of the entire album (and b-sides). the band leader was vernon reid, ?uestlove was on drums, and a different singer performed each song. the best one was bilal doing international lover. (i can't believe he didn't become a star; he certainly had the stage presence.) chocolate genius did a hilarious version of irresistible bitch. if i recall, the verses were countryish, but he screamed the chorus punk-rock style.

hmm. what would prince call that one now? irresistible lady that i respect wholeheartedly as a fellow creation of the lord almighty?

I've been in Sign O' the Times mode now for awhile. If you asked me, tonight, I'd say SOTT.

Ask me tomorrow, you'll probably get a different answer.

My prediction is true, and right on schedule.

Today I'd rather hear 'Gold'.

this is really a good idea. other artist like Pink Floyd and The Cure have done this. I hope he does this one day. I doubt it because he gets bored fast, but this would be cool.

I've seen Lou Reed do New York and Los Lobos do KIKO

Seeing that he performs I would like to have seen the Black Album back then because in 07 i don't think he could do it justice

in 07, 3121 would suit me just fine
