Did prince write and play 777 9311?

Man the bass and guitar are awesome and very well recorded as well.

I know others actually contributed to the Time stuff but was this song Prince?(i know he did the bass)

according to "possessed: the rise and fall of prince" written by alex hahn (billboard books 2003), pg 54 "the single 777-9311, propelled by Prince's skillful bass playing, became a modest hit.".
not sure of writing credits though(read this chapter last nite!)
seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before music beret

Pretty much everything on What Time Is It is Prince...think Dez wrote the lyrics to Wild & Loose but other than that it's a one man show.

ha wild and loose is the song i thought sounded weak as well.
Prince rips himself off on this album but i guess he's allowed to.

Prince must of like morris and the time alot to give him and them full writing credit.

Did morris actually help co-produce it though?

Think he just wanted the album to stand and fall on it's own, hence all the different writing credits. Don't even think Morris had a hand in producing either...all he did was go over Prince's original vocal.

When asked in a magazine player what he considered his best bass line ever (I think this was in 1999/2000), he picked "777 9311".
