Black Album 9362-45793-2 W.B

When Warner Bros released The Legendary Black Album in 1994 they only made a limited amount does anyone know how many was pressed.

The reason I ask is that you can't get this CD/Album now NEW it Sold Out! Yet it never went gold.

Or Did It?

Thanks.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

True VH1 once said "Over 5 million bootlegs copy where sold making it the biggest selling bootleg album of alltime".

But you would think that Warner Bros. (the money makers they are)would have released 1 million copies.
if there where so Limited of a Edition then why not number them?

But to not sell gold? Why? this was a banker Album for them.

Warner Bros.....Y'all Crazy Fool.

Yes I still have the one I got back in 1988. with two bonus track (all my dreams and Old friends 4 sale)
I also have the 1994 W.Bros. Release, One I play and One NEW UNOPENED.
I placed a order on a Very Big Music Web site (mention no names because Prince.org may get p*ss again with me)about 2 years ago they where selling them for £6.99 yes six Pounds but where out of stock. I order 10 copies but knew they would never come.
Then 10 months later 10 CD arrived..b4 anyone asks No I sold them all everyone for £30 on Ebay.

it would seem that I may have made more from the cd then Prince did himself. lol only joking...A great album anyway.

I have no idea where I saved it, but a small newspaper article in the entertainment section of my local paper on the day of release said 250,000 copies were pressed. It said it would be available from November '94 - February '95, never to be seen again.

hmmmmm..... I couldn't disagree more.

untitled (black) is Prince's best ever IMHO.

Uncompromising, unpolished, intense, "live", self-confident, euphoric, sexy, chaotic yet structured, urgent, raw, unlike anything before or since, by him or any other. It is the Dirty Mind of an artist at the height of his powers. It's not about particular tracks or potential singles.... it's about the overall mood, the transparency, the "this is me, take it or leave it" attitude.

This is the Prince I wish had survived. Sadly, Batman became the beginning of a long, slow road to self-consciousness and self-caricature. Come, TRC and NEWS gave us glimpses of the uncompromising Prince who is still in there somewehere.... and that is who I miss.
