HI IM ASKING THIS BECAUSE IM A NEW PRINCE FAN AND WANT TO GET TO KNOW HIM. I THINK THE BEST WAY APART FROM SPENDING TIME WITH THE GUY WHICH I OBVIOUSLY CANT DO IS TO TALK TO HIS FANS ESPECHILLY THOSE WHO'VE BEEN FANS SINCE THE 80'S AND 90'S. I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS MAN YOU CALL PRINCE AND WHAT YOU THINK I CAN LEARN FROM HIM?

Prince is human, complicated, knows when to be an asshole for the most part. You don't get to where he gets without chewing some ass. If I was better at it i might be further. Being nice is overrated!

I don't really understand the need to know the man, although many do and take it far too seriously. I would have thought a fan of Prince would mean simply that they were a fan of his music, and to enjoy music you don't need to know anything about the man. It's like, would SexyMF cease to be funky if you found out he was an awful man?

Without personally knowing the man, all you are ever going to get is chinese whispers and a view filtered through others opinions. Having said all that, I think Prince is your usual human being with all the good points and foibles that entails, but with a fantastic talent for music.

Most people that experience him say he is very nice and polite, but on the otherhand he it's unlikely he got where he is today without being a nasty guy on occasion, he has after all sacked band members and wants everything his own way. But I hope discovering that doesn't put you off delving deeper into his music.

Plain fact is this is such a competitive world you can't get anywhere without walking on people and hurting feelings, you just can't. That said, I don't really understand why people have to be all up in the mans business either. Wanting to know about him is one thing, chastising the things he does or criticizing him because he doesn't do what they think he should do is unrealistic and childish.

I would just try to enjoy the music, and leave it at that.

Probably the best way to get to know him, besides hanging out with him, is to get to know his music since Prince = Music.

And at the end of the day, all you need to know is the music. The person is not for sale.

ok sorry i wont put the caps lock on i just want to be heard on here thats all! i dont want to be all up in the mans bussiness as one of you put it. i just wanted to know if he's a decent bloke. i mean im enjoying his music to the full and listening to what he's singing about and to me thats away of knowing whats in his heart anyway. and thats how ive come to love him and the music. i know all about chinese whispers and you cant belive everything you hear but i appreciate your views that he seems a polite person but abit controlling and i understand that about him. thats not going to put me of. i dont judge anyone for what they do thats not my job i just do what i do and thats it. but i will still keep reading interviews so i can find out for my self.

Yes, he is nice but protective...a perfectionist...and quite funny too...

everyone i know (which is only 2 people, lol) who's worked for him/with him, and everything that's ever been written about him, suggests he's not a nice person. in fact, the two people i know who worked with him say he's the nastiest person they've ever known.

take it for what its worth.

I talked to him for a bit once. He tried really, really, really hard to be nice to me despite the fact that we were arguing about religion. He mostly succeeded.

bad idea, i try not to discuss a person's religious or lovelife, you're doomed to be on the outs with it. My best friends rattles off all the time on religion and I listen, that's all.

Well I don't, we have a couple major wars going on based on religious differences right now you know. But if you like it cool. Prince's religion is his business, I would only tolerate it because it's prince but i wouldn't want to hear it from him no more than i want to hear it from anyone.
